Magnus walked through the streets of Brooklyn, trying to find the store in which the perfect Christmas gift for his boyfriend awaited him to be bought. He was out for about four hours now and it was not the firt shopping tour he made for this occasion. It was just so hard to buy Alec something. In the end, Magnus knew, Alec would be happy about everything he got because that was just the way he worked. He would even be happing with getting nothing and just spening the whole evening with Magnus on the couch watching Christmas movies.
But it was just not enough for Magnus to come up with something ordinary every person bought because the hadn’t any other idea, like mugs or ties. He wouldn’t get his boyfriend something that he would want to sell on ebay afterwards, if he knew what ebay was.
Frustrated, he decided to take a little break and let himself down inside a small coffee shop where he ordered some Christmas-special coffee which included cinnamon and lebkuchen. The steaming cup in front of him, he pulled his phone out and opened the text message app.
The thoughtful silence was interrupted by the ring Izzy’s cell phone made when it announced a text message had just arrived. Alec looked surprised up from his place on her bed and saw how she pulled her phone out of her bra, checking it.
He had come to her about an hour ago because he wanted her advice for a Christmas present for Magnus. Alec had never been good at getting presents for anyone. He usually just gave everyone money to buy stuff that ended under the Christmas tree as a present from him. Sometimes he just got to know what he gave someone after it was unwrapped.
For Magnus, on the other hand, Alec wanted to get something himself and it definitively needed to be something special because Magnus would sure as hell give him something extraordinarily special. That’s why he asked his sister for advice. She usually had the most creative mind for presents and she especially loved the concept of lover’s presents.
He heard her tipping on her phone while she smiled along.
"What’s so funny?" he asked her, his mind slowly giving up on the task finding a present.
"None of your business." she retorted and kept typing away on her phone.
"Whow, sorry I asked." Starting to doubt his decision to go to Isabelle for help, Alec just grumpled and stared back up at the ceiling.
